Disclaimer: I would bleed for Hedi Slimane, hence all statements and proclamations of approval are are 10 clouds past bias and just floating towards a Hedi-led wonderland.
With Hedi, it’s always been in the detail. Whilst he hasn’t shown anything “groundbreaking” (and I use the term groundbreaking very loosely given the general reaction to his audacity to send babydoll dress clad models down a runway) in this collection, his nod to the Le Smoking Tuxedo and those 80s flirty dresses definitely had me ooh-ing and ahh-ing all morning.
The hem lines were short, the leather was exceptionally cut, and the kitten heels almost came French Voguette approved.
Critics will likely argue that Hedi’s saleability is getting by on the smoke and mirrors of styling, but arguably, a Saint Laurent girl will easily make any of those pieces stand on their own. And that is the mark of Slimane’s genius.
